Course Summary
In this course, you'll learn different ragas, like musical moods that bring out various emotions. These ragas have their own timings and melodies, and as you learn them, you'll build your musical skills.
Rhythmic and time-keeping concepts - Taal and Lay - are like the heartbeat of music. In this course - you will learn about different rhythmic concepts in depth.
Even after practicing the ragas and other musical concepts on the flute, if you still find it difficult to play songs, don’t worry. You will receive notations for songs and learn to play songs by following them. Notations are like a musical map that guides you through the notes, making those challenging songs much easier to understand and play.

About the Course
The highlights of the course include -
- Starting with the basics – Ragas and Taals.
- Some easy-to-grasp Ragas that will be taught in this course include - Yaman, Bhoopali, Hansdhwani, Durga, and Megh.
- Three basic Taals that will be taught include - Teentaal, Dadra, and Keherwa.
- Notations are melodic patterns written down on paper. It helps to understand the language of music and follow it faster. In this course, you will also learn to read, understand, write, and follow the notations of songs.
- As you scale up your musical acumen, slowly, you'll also learn how to create melodious alaaps and tans.
- Slowly, you will gain confidence to play a short 10-15 minute composition - solo performance on flute.
- And finally, you'll discover the art of improvisation. You'll be able to create your unique melodies and explore new dimensions of music.
About the Teacher
Hrishikesh Majumdar, a young and exceptionally talented flutist, began his musical journey under the guidance of his father, the renowned Guru Pt. Ronu Majumdar and his mother, Mrs. Anandi Bula Majumdar, at the tender age of 6. He continues to refine his vocal skills under the mentorship of Guru Pandit Vikas Kashalkar.
Hrishikesh represents the Maihar Gharana binkaari style like his father and performs in Dhrupad style alaap, Jod Jhaala, and Ghatkari style and is equally trying his skills in Thumri, Dadra, and folk music.
Apart from excelling in classical music, Hrishikesh has ventured into new-age music and composed music for various projects. Some of his endeavors that deserve special mention include - his innovative concept of "FLUTE TRANCE," blending Indian classical music with trance music, and his jugalbandi performances with his father, notably at Goa Fest 2019 and prestigious festivals across India, among others.
