This course is the foundation step to learning basics of Indian classical music on Sitar or any melodic instrument or vocals. Students undergoing the course will be introduced to the basics of Indian music, notes in Indian classical music as well as the sargams that relate to singing or playing just the notes or swaras without the use of words in a composition, using alankaras or ornamentation to make it sound more appealing. Students pursuing this course will create a strong foundation of basics learning about notes or swaras as well as being able to render theses notes as a sargam, using alankaras that increase the appeal of musical notes.

This long term course will create a sound foundation of teaching students the very fundamentals of Hindustani classical that relies heavily on the saptak, otherwise known as 7 notes (Sa, Re, Ga, Ma, Pa, Dha, Ni, Sa) to sargams that will train students on using a variety of combinations of the mentioned seven notes. It will educate the students on some of the basic ragas, which is a melodic way or manner of expressing music in Indian classical music both through way of an instrument or vocals as well as taals that relate to rhythm and tempo in a composition.will ensure their progression in the field of Hindustani classical, be it playing an instrument
