Analyzing the Student’s Voice and Designing the Voice Training Regime accordingly - Every student has a different voice and different range. There are different voice types for example alto, soprano, etc. Also, some voice ranges that fall somewhere in between them. Besides, some people are natural singers. some people are not.     

It is only possible to design a training regime depending on what requirements they have. That is the reason why this course is customized as per the learner's abilities and learning objectives. There is no standard regime or ‘basic exercises per se’ that applies to all. 

Depending on the voice type and quality specific vocal exercises will be advised. There are some patterns along with piano exercises that help to improve their voice range and pitching issues.  

The teacher will ask the new students to sing a couple of lines to test their voice range and determine their voice type. The voice training regime will be recommended after this. This takes care of several teething problems that a student might face at the beginning of their musical journey.  

The emphasis is on vocal range and how to increase the vocal range because the students have to be versatile.

Decoding the Techniques - The next step is to analyze the technicalities involved in the variety of genres of songs and decode and apply the art of soulful singing. Some of the techniques of songs include the rips and runs that are the gamaks and pragars, the harkats as we call them in Hindustani classical music. In the beginning, the students may not understand the hartaks at one go. For that, each technique has to be broken down part by part for them to learn to render that harkat perfectly or near perfection at least. 

The list of songs will be explained in the free meeting. The songs will be selected depending on the age and singing ability of the students.

About the Teacher

Triya Sushma is a performer, professional playback singer, and online vocal coach with over 10 years of teaching experience. She is skilled in Carnatic, Hindustani, and Western Classical Music. She has worked with renowned film composers like Dr. A.R. Rahman, Harris Jayaraj, and others.

As a music teacher, Triya has 8+ years of experience in both online and offline teaching. She is passionate about sharing the joy of music with diverse groups of learners. Triya is also adept at planning and delivering music for dramas and plays.

In her professional work experience, Triya worked as a Software Engineer at HCL Technologies Ltd and Tata Consultancy Services before focusing on her music career.

Triya's educational background includes a Senior Diploma in Hindustani Classical Music, Grade 8 in Western Vocals from Trinity College London, and ongoing studies in B.Music (Carnatic) at Madras University. She has received tutelage in Carnatic Music, Western Classical vocals, and Hindustani Classical music from respected mentors.

Additionally, Triya participated in the Padutha Theeyaga reality show and has been part of various TV shows and nationwide singing competitions. She has also lent her vocals to feature films and jingles in Kollywood, Tollywood, and Bollywood.
