About the Teacher
Srijanee Banerjee is a talented sitarist hailing from a musically endowed family. Her journey in music began under the guidance of her father, Chandan Banerjee. As her passion for the sitar grew, she sought further knowledge and received training from renowned maestros Late Pandit Ravi Sen and Dr. Niladri Sen. In 2014, she embarked on a new phase of her musical education by joining the esteemed ITC Sangeet Research Academy, where she is currently a Scholar under the tutelage of Guru Pandit Partha Chatterjee.
Srijanee's dedication and exceptional talent have garnered recognition through various accolades. She has been honored in prestigious competitions such as the Doverlane Music Competition, Gokul Nag Memorial Foundation's 'Sitar Kesari,' Sangeet Piyasi, and Murari Smriti Sangeet Sammelani. Her performances have graced renowned concert venues, captivating audiences with her soulful renditions.
Beyond her achievements as a performer, Srijanee has also excelled academically. She achieved the remarkable feat of standing first class first in Modern History from the University of Calcutta, showcasing her intellectual prowess alongside her musical talent.
Recognizing her remarkable skill and dedication, Srijanee has been awarded the National Scholarship by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. Her artistry has taken her beyond borders, as she performed in Bangladesh on the momentous occasion of the 100th Birth Century of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, an event organized by the Government of Bangladesh. She has also had the privilege of performing at the inauguration ceremony of the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) and the Swar Mangesh Festival in Goa, among many other notable venues and events.
From her extensive experience, Srijanee has honed her teaching abilities and successfully guided students at various skill levels, including beginners, intermediate, and advanced learners. With a profound understanding of the technical intricacies of the sitar and a detailed approach to raagdari (melodic progression) and presentation, she imparts her knowledge to aspiring musicians, nurturing their growth and fostering a deeper connection with this beautiful instrument.
