Basics of Coffee Painting

Q: How much time should a person practice each day apart from the time spent during the class?

It is completely on the student. More the practice the better the student gets.

Q: What extras (e.g. any study material) will the student get?

I suggest books, artist names, events they should visit if they are in Bangalore and/or Kolkata.

Q: Do you have any specific expectations from students enrolling for this course?

Students should approach the sessions with an open mind and be ready to let go of their inhibitions.

Q: What kind of students are tough to teach?

Students who are enclosed within themselves by not being open are difficult to work with.

Q: What if the student is unable to attend an upcoming class?

The student is required to inform the teacher about his absence from a particular session, two days prior to the class. In such a case, the teacher will reschedule the class and conduct the rescheduled class on or before the end (i.e. Saturday) of the ensuing week or such other time as may be mutually decided between the teacher and the student. In case the student misses to give two days prior notice about his absence to the teacher, then the decision to conduct another class for that student is completely based on teacher’s discretion.

Q: What if the teacher wishes to reschedule a class?

In case the teacher is unavailable for the scheduled class, he/she will inform the students two days prior to the class. The teacher will conduct the rescheduled class on or before the end (i.e. Saturday) of the ensuing week or such other time as may be mutually decided between the teacher and the student.

Q: Will you provide any assessment?

Students are assessed and given feedback after every session.

Q: Can the course be customized as per the requirement of the student?

Yes, the course can be customized, but the terms and conditions will differ.

Course Summary

This course on coffee painting introduces students to using coffee, a beverage ingredient, as a painting medium. Coffee which is easily available can be used as a painting medium to create unique art pieces. This course will teach students on how to use instant coffee for the purpose of painting, the different hues of dark and light that can be derived by adding some water to the coffee solution. By the culmination of this short term course students will be able to individually create an art piece by using coffee as the medium and be confident to explore the use of coffee in a variety of applications to create unique art.

This course on coffee painting will look at using coffee as a medium for painting or creating an art piece. Coffee as a readily available ingredient is an exciting medium to work with. Though working with coffee creates monochromatic paintings, there are various effects and variations that can be achieved using coffee as a painting medium to make coffee painting different or realistic. Students in this course will also learn how to use coffee to get a variety of variations from the really dark tone to the lighter tone by adding water to coffee. They will also be taught the use of a brush used for painting the different portions in a coffee artwork. In this entire learning process, the student will be guided to create a complete art piece, right from drawing to filling it up or painting it with coffee to create a unique piece of art.
