Mridangam for All Levels is a course designed to accommodate students at the beginner, intermediate, or advanced level. This course will take place in once-weekly online lessons lasting 45-minutes each, over the duration of 25 weeks. After successful completion of this course, students may re-enroll if they wish to continue their education. Perfect for those seeking a professional career, or a new hobby, this course will ensure each student is ready to pursue the next level of their musical education.

Carnatic Musician, Percussionist, Mridangam Player - Musician
This mridangam course, designed by top musician and instructor K U Jayachandra Rao, will vary on a case-by-case basis depending on each student’s previously acquired musical skills. For beginners, teacher Rao will begin with the basic foundations of Mridangam anatomy, proper handling and care, basic musical theory, history, and modern application. Students will learn practice techniques to ensure their coordination and their ear for rhythm will become more advanced with each practice. For the more advanced students, Rao will include professional level concert techniques, including proper performance strategies to enhance the quality of sound for the audience. Instructor Rao will also teach the most advanced students the necessary mathematical arrangements and rhythmic patterns necessary for the student to create their own unique pieces of music.
About Mr. Jayachandra Rao: Jayachandra Rao is a widely known classical Carnatic musician who specializes in percussion. Playing the mridangam, exponent Rao has performed with various leading musicians around India, including many musical festivals. Rao is known for his unique musical style he has developed through years of study that blends aesthetics and precision of sound to perfectly accompany the vocals of any piece of music. Rao, known for his melodious sound and creative versatility, is one of the most highly sought after percussionists in Carnatic tradition. As a course designed for all skill levels, there are no required prerequisites before enrolling in this course. Students will need pen and paper for taking notes and their own mridangam instrument. Those enrolling in Mridangam for All Levels will need to ensure they have the time to not only commit to the 45-minute online sessions, but to individual practice between lessons, as well.
