Once enrolled in this course, instructor Daniel Roest guides students through an introduction to the instrument - With Classical and Fingerstyle. Students begin by learning key subjects such as the anatomy and function of the elements of the acoustic guitar, the history of the instrument, as well as modern-day use. Once a strong foundation has been established, instructor Roest guides students through learning to play chords, scales, arpeggios, and simple songs while implementing proper posture, handling, and practice techniques. To move from Beginner to Intermediate takes different amounts of time for different guitarists, but two to three months would be an average to acquire substantial progress and move out of "Beginner" stage.
As an experienced guitar instructor, Daniel Roest has created a lesson plan to quickly guide his pupils through the beginner stage of basics and into the more intermediate level subjects of rhythm, tone, speed, and balance. Roest’s students also learn to read sheet music, play simple songs, and begin building their own personalized repertoire. The practicing techniques outlined in this course are customizable to the needs of each student.
About the Teacher: Daniel Roest began his musical studies at the young age of six. After mastering the basics, young Roest left to study with guitar exponent Bunyun Webb. As a young adult, Roest began his educational career as a guitar major, resulting in three degrees. Roest now passes on his passion and skill as a teacher himself. Over the years Roest has taught at California State University Stanislaus, De Anza, Foothill, and San Jose City Colleges. Currently Roest maintains a full-time teaching studio in Folsom, CA., while continuing to use his 60 years of musical experience to teach international students one-on-one through his own online guitar courses for beginners.
