This 1-on-1 online live course is for all, beginners to intermediate to advanced guitarists. Anthony Bez will give you the option of rote learning, using tablature, or reading music which he highly recommends. If you want to learn to read music Anthony would start you in a Classical Guitar method which will also give you the basic techniques that are shared by these two genres. Anthony will otherwise teach the techniques that make up Flamenco like picado, a variety of rasqueados, golpe or tapping, and alzapua. You will learn chords, chord strumming patterns, scales, scale exercises and how to practice and utilize them in context. We will build on these by learning some of the many forms and rhythms known as the compass and then build solos. This course will be from the perspective of solo guitar. Anthony likes to use a few reference methods but he is flexible.
About Anthony Bez: Anthony Bez began to study the guitar by the time he was aged just five years old, performing regularly by age nine and debuting his classical guitar skills by his early teens. Since then, he has performed throughout Europe, as well as the USA. He studied professionally at Arizona State University, Berklee College of Music, and the Mannes College of Music.
He was a recent recipient of a grant from "Meet the Composer", has been the Music Director/Composer of the Actor’s Shakespeare Company for over 16 years and is the current serving Secretary of the New York City Classical Guitar Society. Anthony is a completely devoted teacher and was on the faculty of the American Institute of Guitar for over ten years. He has also written articles that have appeared in NYlon Review, Soundboard Magazine, the publication of the Guitar Foundation of America and Guitar Review. He has two CDs of his own compositions, "Holy Mountain" which has been featured on WNYC’s "New Sounds" as well as on Public Radio here in both the United States and in Canada, and his solo follow-up album "Return to Mountain" which was recorded at the Rinzai monastery and retreat center Dai Bosatsu International Zendo Kongo-ji.

You must have a nylon string Classical or Flamenco guitar. If it is a Classical Guitar you will need to protect the face of the guitar with tap plates. This is a typical solution for many. In the case of a beginner, Anthony suggests a method for reading and playing Classical Guitar and you would then need a footstool or device to raise the guitar. A music stand would be necessary as well.
