About the Teacher: Indira Naik comes from a family of artists and has trained in the Patiala Gharana Gayaki for the last 30 years. She performs Sufi, Ghazals, Thumris, Bhakti, and Film Songs in India and countries including the US, UK, and Portugal. She has been teaching Sufi music to her selected students for the last two decades.
Indira’s composition of the Sufi song ‘Yaar Fakiri Mein’ saw her perform at the International Jeonju Sori Festival in South Korea. The same song also features in Anurag Kashyap’s ‘The Last Act’. She has also performed at World Sufi Festivals like Jahan E Khusrau.
Indira is empanelled with ICCR ( Ministry of External Affairs – Indira ) and was sent on tour to South American countries with her band of Sufi musicians. She has also performed for the President Of India at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
She has two albums to her name, Aap Ke Liye released by Jagjit Singh and Tassavur - released by Javed Akhtar. The Netflix film on Saeed Mirza’s life ‘The Leftist Sufi’ carries Indira’s musical score and songs.
