If you want to get a solid understanding of music theory in a comprehensible way without getting lost in between staff notation, major and minor scales, accidentals, intervals, triads and more, this is the course for you, whether you are a beginner in music, a mature student seeking a refresher course or a self-taught musician who needs to get better clarity on music theory. The course takes place in 45-minute online sessions once weekly, over an average duration of 30 weeks and is broadly based on Grade 1 curriculum, however, depending on the needs and current level of the student, other topics may be covered including from higher grades.
Classes are tailor-made for the student with instructor Chiara Lo Faro working hand-in-hand to design learning goals unique to students of all ages. The first session of this course will be utilized for the student and teacher to get to know one another. The student will have the opportunity to demonstrate where they are at in their musical education, so the course can be customized according to their needs. Once the learning begins, the instructor will guide the student through the appropriate courses, including: music reading, solfege, time signatures, scales, incidentals, syncopation, ear training, rhythmic reading, minor keys, chord progressions, intervals and many more.
About Ms. Chiara Lo Faro: Chiara Lo Faro started musical training at the young age of seven with a simple keyboard. Later, she moved on to explore Western classical piano and began excelling through several advanced conservatory exams in Italy on topics including; harmony, singing, ear training, transposition and more. She was selected to receive a full scholarship by the European Union to be part of a project requiring 100+ hours of music making - a project named "Soundscapes" - which contributed to Chiara Lo Faro’s first recorded studio track at the age of 15. Currently, she teaches students from around the globe one-to-one online, as well as in person, while also working on her on compositions, which she performs online and in different countries. Her multi-linguistic abilities - fluent in English, French, Italian, and having a working knowledge of Hindi - allow her to pass on her education to students from all nationalities.

As a beginner’s course, students are not required to complete any prerequisite course before enrollment. Before enrolling for the course students need - staff paper and pencil, possibly a musical instrument (a piano or keyboard, or online keyboard for those with no other option), and a passion for music. Those enrolling need to ensure they have time to commit not only to the 45-minute weekly online sessions but to practicing between courses as well to make the most of their time with renowned singer, composer, and pianist Chiara Lo Faro.
