Course Summary
Sufi Music has a rich diversity of sounds all sharing the same purpose - to experience something higher, than yourself. If Sufi music inspires you, learn the expression of Sufism through music under the guidance of Dr. Shruti Sargam.
This course includes learning from a vast array of Sufi music ranging from poetries of prominent Sufi saints such as Baba Bulleh Shah, Shah Hussain, and Amir Khusro, to deeply moving Sufi songs in films such as Arziyan, Khwaja mere, Kun Faya, etc.
Students are taught a variety of Sufi songs, both the recommended ones and the ones of their own choice. The classes will prove to be helpful to both aspiring professional Sufi singers as well as hobbyists.

About the Course
This course is created to give holistic music training to students through the medium of Sufi Music. The highlights of the beginner-level course in Sufi music include -
- Learning the essence of Sufi music through popular Sufi songs
- 8 to 10 Sufi songs ranging from film songs to qawwalis and to acclaimed Sufi poetries.
- correct usage of the voice, voice modulation, pitch, and stability on the notes
- learning the techniques to embellish a song by adding alaap, sargam, and small taan.
- simple morning and evening Riyaz techniques that will help strengthen the student's voices and widen their vocal range.

About the Teacher
Dr. Shruti Sargam is a trained Ghazal and Sufi singer. Born in an illustrious lineage of Dhrupad vocalists from the Darbhanga tradition, she was privileged to grow up in a musically rich atmosphere where she explored different genres of music.
Specializing in Ghazal singing, Shruti has completed "Sangeet Shiromani" from the Faculty of Music and Fine Arts, University of Delhi. She also holds a Senior Diploma in Hindustani Classical Vocal music from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad.
She has performed live across India in numerous stage shows. She was the guest artist on the popular weekly show, “Shukra hai Shukravar hai” on AIR FM Rainbow. She was awarded "Sur Sartaj" in 2012. A versatile singer with varied experience in the music industry, she has lent her voice to various radio and TV jingles like Mega Cabs, Discovery Channel’s Incredible India Campaign, Tupperware, Big Bazaar, and Dabur Gulabari, to name a few.
