During this course, instructor Dr. Jagriti Luthra Prasanna, will guide students through learning intermediate level Ragas, including yaman, bhairav, tori, pooriya, bilawal, sarang, megh, bhairavi, and more. Dr. Jagriti believes that the tradition of Sufi singing, with lyrics written by the Murshads and peers, is the best way to get in touch with the gods spiritually. Each course will be designed to accommodate the student’s level of skill, speed of learning, and individual interest to ensure retention of the joy of learning. Dr. Jagriti's lesson plan is diverse, including activities, practices, and assessments to ensure each student is able to succeed.
About Dr. Jagriti Luthra Prasanna: Jagriti Luthra Prasanna (one of the sisters from Roohani Sisters Sufi Jugalbandi), has accomplished a doctorate degree in Sufi Music from Delhi University and has written her thesis on the work and contribution of Lt. Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan to Sufi Music. Dr. Jagriti learns Indian Classical Music from Padma Vibhushan Pt. Rajan Sajan Mishra of Banaras Gharana and is also a sincere disciple of Ustaad Sakhawat Hussain Khan, Grandson of Padama Bhushan Ustaad Mushtaq Hussain Khan of Rampur-Sehaswan Gharana, from whom she’s learning the technicalities of Sufi and Ghazal Gayaiki. Dr. Jagriti's idea of Sufism is deeply rooted in her devotion to spirituality. She believes in the importance of spreading the word of the Sufi saints and has dedicated her educational life to furthering their voices to the future generations, ensuring the continuation of this musical tradition.

Enrolling students will need to have previously acquired a basic understanding of Sufi music and be able to demonstrate this understanding during the first online course. Pen and paper will be required for note taking, however no other materials are required. Students will need to ensure they have time to not only commit to the online learning sessions, but to individual practice between courses as well.
