Konnakol is the art of speaking the syllables of rhythm while counting the Tala by hand or demonstrating a composition on Tabla. Konnakol is a term used by music schools based out of South India, whereas the practitioners in the northern side of the country call it Bol paran.
Learning to speak the syllables of rhythm is crucial to percussionists, dancers, and also, singers and musicians. Hence, irrespective of your discipline of practice in music and/or dance, this course is recommended for you.

About the Teacher
Rishabh Dhar is a seasoned artist with a remarkable 24-year career that has taken him to stages all around the world. His musical journey has been nothing short of extraordinary, leaving a trail of enchanting performances in numerous countries around the world.
Rishabh's mother, the renowned Dhrupad singer Smt. Ashoka Dhar Nandy has been a revered Cultural Ambassador of India for decades. Rishabh's upbringing has been steeped in the rich traditions of his homeland, and he has become a torchbearer for his family's musical legacy.
Rishabh started his journey in percussion at the tender age of three, guided by the expertise of Pandit Rajib Lochon Dey and other esteemed Indian masters. He also delved into the South Indian Ghatam and Konnakol (the rhythmic language) under the tutelage of Pandit S. Shekhar. This diverse training has enriched his musical palette and enabled him to explore and create unique fusions of sound.
Throughout his illustrious career, Rishabh has had the privilege of sharing the stage with some of the most iconic figures in Indian classical music. His collaborations include performances alongside legends such as the Late Ustad Nasir Aminuddin Dagar, Ustad Sayeduddin Dagar, Pt. Ajoy Chackraborty, and many more.
He has shared the stage with distinguished international artists, including Victor Wooten, Jack de Zonnette, Steve Zerlin, and many other global talents. Rishabh has also given lectures at several esteemed universities across the world and performed on several global musical platforms.
