This course is designed for learners who have completed the fundamental course in music. They should have developed a good voice quality and learned the grammar of music properly to be able to pick up the singing styles of Thumri, Dadra, Kajri, and Chaiti.
This course will take the take learnings a notch above with thoughtful singing styles. It will include a bit of advanced knowledge of the semi-classical form of music and its impact on performance.

About the Teacher
Sohini Chakraborty was initiated to Hindustani Classical vocal music at the age of three under the guidance of her mother Smt Tripti Chakraborty, a disciple of Sangeetachary Amiya Ranjan Bandyopadhyay, Vidushi Purnima Chowdhury and Vidushi Daliya Rahut.
From 2011 onwards she is under the guidance of Sangeetachary Amiya Ranjan Bandyopadhyay, the senior most (vocal) artist of Bishnupur Gharana. Sohini is taking her former training of Poorab Ang Thumri Gayaki under Vidushi Daliya Rahut, exponent of Purab Ang Gayaki and Benaras Gharana.
Sohini is taking taalim from Sri Deborshee Bhattacharjee, senior musician at ITC Sangeet research academy.
Sohini is a B High graded artist of All India Radio in both of the subjects Khayal and Thumri. A regular performer on television she received Purab Ang Gayaki Scholarship from VSK Baithak Delhi for advanced training in Purab Ang Gayaki.
Sohini performed in the major cities of India including Kolkata, Varanasi, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Lucknow etc. Her first international debut was in Dhaka and Rajshahi, Bangladesh in the year 2016.
Sohini got 1st position in both Thumri and Bhajan in the prestigious Dover lane All India Music Competition in the year 2017 and was awarded as the Top Scorer of the year.
She got 2nd position in the Rajya Sangeet Academy competition, 1st position in Murari Smriti Sangeet Competition, and 2nd in the Sangeet Milon Classical Voice of Kolkata in Khayal in the year 2016.
Sohini has been awarded by Ratu Sen Smriti Puraskar (2017), the Harihar Shukla Memorial Award (2017), Kamal Gupta Smriti Puraskar (2017), Kala Vithika Apurba Pratibha Best Performer of the Year (2017).
