Online Hindustani Vocal Training and Sargam Practice for Children

The highlights of this course include -

• Swar Parichay - The very basis of Hindustani classical music is on the 12 swaras (7 suddha swara and 5 vakra swara). Music is a language and the swaras are its alphabets. 
• Introduction of Sargam - When you sing the swaras in sequence and in an ascending and descending order - it is the sargam. 
• Breathing Control - At the introductory level, the students are taught to breathe deeply before singing or projecting their voices. As they learn more and practice regularly, they will learn to make better use of their breath while singing. 
• Practice of Sargam - Singing the sargam in sequence, each note in its correct frequency in slow to fast tempo
• Palta Practice - Palta includes making phrases out of one, two, or more notes or swaras and singing them in ascending (aarohan) and descending (abarohan)
• Training of Voice Control, Throwing, and Modulations - Learning to play with the intensity of the voice that helps to express different emotions while singing
• Taal Gyan - Rhythm is as crucial to music as voice training and intonation. Taal and Lay will be introduced to the children along with the sargam, palta and other songs. 
• Stotra -  Each class will start Stotra path. Strotras are a powerhouse of positive vibrations and can energize our entire system.  
• Guru Ma Naba Parna will teach to sing the stotras with correct pronunciation and intonation. She will teach - Mahamrityunjay Mantra, Guru Bramha Guru Vishnu Guru Devo Mahshwara and many such. Some child-friendly and easy-to-sing songs that will teach them the principles of Hindustani Classical music as well as make learning fun for them. A tentative list is presented here -

About the Teacher

A child prodigy, Nabo Parna, began her musical journey at 4. Her first guru was her mother who was an exponent of the Lucknow Gharana. After which she took lessons from the disciple of Pt. Niharranjan Bandhyapadhaya from the Vishnupur Gharana. 

She mastered the Bengal music genre ‘Nazrul Geeti’ under the tutelage of the disciple of Angur Bala Devi (disciple of renowned Kazi Nazrul Islam Ji). She has learned under Smt Saha (disciple of Bidushi Shipra Bose and Biman Mukhopadhyay). 

She has expertise in ‘Light Music’ too (learned under the tutelage of the disciple of Charlton Kitto). She has also sought guidance from renowned music director Kolyan Sen Barat. An avid learner Nabo Parna continues to learn North Indian Classical Music under the guidance of renowned Dr. Arun Kashalkar of the Agra Gharana.

An artist at (AIR), Nabo Parna has been an active T.V and public performer. She has performed with legends like Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia, Begum Parvin Sultana, Smt Jaya Biswas, and Smt Shipra Bose. 

Nabo Parna has performed at the Kolkata Raj Bhavan (Governor’s house). She has been honoured with the ‘Achiever’s Award’ for the classical singer category, by the Kalakar Foundation, Delhi. 

She was also invited to perform in a live concert at the Google office (USA). She has also been interviewed live on Radio Zindagi 15.50 SFO (USA). She has authored a book 'Raga Vichitra- Meditation for Soul', to guide beginners in Hindustani classical music. She has dedicated herself to grooming music enthusiasts (already guided several students across India and the USA). She has been recently awarded the Best Singer Award by the Rewa International Film Festival, in 2022. Nabo Parna has received the Nation's Pride Award 2024 from the Gyan Uday Foundation, Kota, Rajasthan. She has also received the Rabindra Ratna Puraskar 2024. She hs also been awarded with the Rashtriya Gold Medalist Award 2024 for her remarkable work in singing, composing, and classical singing.
