This is an Onlive (online + live), 1-on-1, Hindustani semi-classical course that is available for all learning levels on our platform. Taught by singer, vocal expert, and mentor Arindam Bhattacharyya, this course is all about learning the different styles in Hindustani semi-classical music. These styles will be Thumri, Dadra, Bhajan, and Ghazal. Taught over a span of 30 weeks, these classes will be held for a duration of 45 minutes, once a week. After the successful completion of this course, the enrolled students will be able to incorporate these singing styles in their singing or while learning different compositions in Hindustani music.

In this online course of weekly 45 minutes over 30 weeks, students will get to learn music online and practice the various vocal methods to sing Hindustani semi-classical vocal music. They will also get an introduction to Hindustani Raaga based semi-classical music and learn to sing those songs after achieving at their respective learning level. The students will also learn all about the technicalities like Taal and Theka in those compositions. In this online course, students will pick up Thumri, which is the singing style based on beats, Bhajan, which is a devotional form, Ghazal, which is a Mughal-influenced Hindustani style and Dadra, which is a lighter, more emotional singing style.
Students who are starting at a beginner level will have their course customized at an introductory level, which will help them grasp the basics of their singing styles in Hindustani semi-classical music. Similarly, intermediate students, who might already have a foundation in these styles will be able to learn deeper, more detailed, and difficult intricacies. This course is also helpful for advanced-level students and professionals who are trying to add new skills to their set and wish to imbibe these styles for further musical inspiration. The instructor of the course, Arindam Bhattacharyya will be making sure that you receive reference songs and material for practice.
About the instructor: Arindam Bhattacharyya inherited music from his father, legendary tabla maestro of Lucknow Gharana Pandit Swaraj Bhattacharyya & his grandfather Late Sangitacharya Bibhuti Bhusan Bhattacharyya. Though he is born and brought up with the sound of Tabla, his inner urge and gifted voice turned him into a vocalist. Arindam is a very laborious student of his guru and renowned musician, vocalist, composer, and teacher Pandit Ranjan Mukherjee who has a very rare background of Talim in the tradition of Patiala Gharana and Kotali Gharana(The Gharana of Late Sangitacharya Tarapada Chakraborty and his son Late Pandit Manas Chakraborty, the outstanding luminary in the musical galaxy).
He is also a Gold medalist from Rabindra Bharati University, and has received many awards like Sangitacharya Girijashankar Chakraborty Prize by R.B.U., Nirod Baron Memorial Prize by R.B.U., Acharya Uday Bhusan Bhattacharya Smrity Puraskar by R.B.U., Bijon Ghosh Dostidar Gold Medal by R.B.U., National Scholarship by Ministry of Tourism and Culture, Govt. of India.,National Scholarship by Ministry of Education, Govt. of India.,Divisional Railway Manager’s Award for coordinating the musical programs as a coordinator of Divisional Cultural Association and many more. He has qualified UGC-NET(Dec’13) in Music. Being an ‘A’ Grade Artist of All India Radio(Kolkata) and Doordarshan(Kolkata), he performed extensively all over India and abroad. He is blessed by Sarod Maestro Ustad Aashish Khan and Padmasree Ustad Rashid Khan. Besides pure classical music, Arindam is a very promising composer and music director. He has trained lots of students personally and in music colleges and universities throughout the nation. He is also an honored examiner of various music schools colleges and universities like Bharati Kala Kendra/Lucknow, State music college/Tripura, Tripura University, Visva-Bharati University/Shantiniketan, etc.
