Intermediate Kritis and Keerthanams takes place in 60-minute lessons, once weekly, for the duration of 24 weeks. Designed for aspiring artists and hobbyists alike, this course endeavors to inspire an appreciation for the beauty of Carnatic music. An in-depth understanding of Kritis and Keertanams within a raga is an essential approach to manodharma (the complete understanding of the raga). As an intermediate course, students will need a basic understanding of Carnatic music before enrollment.

This course, personally designed by instructor Aishwarya Vidhya Raghunath, provides students with a thorough understanding of kriti and keerthanams musical compositions. Aishwarya teaches that only by truly understanding the raga bhava, can a kriti performance become elevated to a musical experience beyond a mere rendition. Through the instruction of Aishwarya, students learn a repertoire that will enrich their understanding of music, enabling them to embark on the next lessons of manodharma - alapana, neraval, and swaram.
ABOUT THE TEACHER: Aishwarya Vidhya Raghunath is an emerging proponent of the Veena Dhanammal Bani of Carnatic classical music. Her family introduced her to the world of music at the young age of three and she performed on stage for the first time just 10 years later. Since then, she has been awarded the Government of India Scholarship (Ministry of Culture, 2008-2010) and has been rated an A-graded artist of the All India Radio and Doordarshan. Aishwarya has performed at countless venues nationally and internationally for a multitude of functions and assemblies. Not only a musician, but Aishwarya is also a Biotech engineer having served as an executive at Biocon before committing to a full-time musical career. Today, she is as an instructor on ipassio, passing on the tradition of Carnatic music through passionately constructed lessons provided to students across the globe.
