Online Classes for Light Music - Intermediate Level

Building upon the foundational knowledge acquired in Level-1, this course delves deeper into the technicalities of Light Music, refining your vocal skills and artistic expression.

• Vocal Gym Techniques - The basis of every vocal music class is voice training. By the term ‘vocal gym’ it is clear that the curriculum introduces the students to a rigorous voice training regime. It includes specialized breathing techniques to enhance lung capacity. Vocal warm-ups and cool-downs to maintain strength and agility in the voice.
• Identifying Notes on the Tanpura - Understanding pitch and notes is essential for accurate singing. In this course you will learn how to recognize and match swaras with the Tanpura’s resonance, developing pitch accuracy and tonal awareness.
• Taal ( time signature patterns) - This course offers an in-depth understanding of the rhythmic cycles commonly used in Indian music. You will learn to recognize and sing along with various time signatures, develop a sense of tempo (Lay), and maintain rhythm while performing.
• Vocal Expressions, Voice Modulation, and Pitch Control - Light music is like storytelling that requires different vocal techniques and expressions. And hence it is important to focus on expressive singing techniques, and exercises for voice modulation and pitch control. The course ensures a noticeable change in your singing skills. 
• Karaoke training with a focus on Taal and Lay (tempo) - You will learn how to sing with backing tracks while maintaining rhythm and synchronization with instrumental accompaniments. Precision in timing and phrasing will be emphasized, ensuring that your performances sound polished and professional.
• Technicalities of classical and non-classical songs - In this part, you will explore classical-based Hindi film songs, understanding their intricate elements, as well as non-classical songs with a focus on contemporary singing styles. Additionally, Marathi film and non-film songs will be introduced, adding a flair of regional melodies and traditional influences.
• Basic knowledge of Ragas for raga-based songs -  Many Indian film songs are inspired by classical ragas, and this course will introduce you to their basic structures. You will learn how to identify raga-based songs and sing them with authenticity, incorporating raga elements naturally into your vocal delivery.
• Latest Bollywood songs -Yes! In this course you will learn some of the new Bollywood songs. Here is a tentative list of Bollywood songs. However, your teacher Onkar Ji will decide the ultimate song list depending on your learning abilities and proficiency.

About the Teacher

Born in a family of music lovers he has been learning music and performing since 3 years of age. At the age of 9, he sang a Marathi duet for All India Radio. 

Onkar received advanced training in light music from Dr Saleel Kulkarni, Pandit Ramesh Kanole, and Pandita. Sita for Indian classical Music. Onkar is a ‘Sangeet Visharad’ with a special qualification from Akhil Bhartiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal, Mumbai. He is a Graded Radio Artist for Light Music by Prasar Bharti Aakashvani Pune.   

He has won several music competitions and performed as a lead singer in various music shows in major cities in India. He has also performed in front of renowned people like eminent historian Padma Vibhushan Shri. Babasaheb Purandare, Lyricist Shri. Pravin Devane, Singer Shri Shridhar Fadke, International Jaltarang player Pandit. Shri Milind Tulankar.  

In the United Kingdom, he has performed at prestigious venues like Maharashtra Mandal, London and Mauritian Marathi Society, London and also several other venues in the U.K
